Review of my local pub, The Fawcett Inn at OxygenKiosk.

Now I’ve got a bit of my energy back I can start babbling about what happened over the weekend.

Well in a nutshell it was a really good weekend, Colin, Lahnee, Abby and myself spent much of Saturday in the sun. This involved lying in the sun, eating vast amounts of garlic bread, pizza and ice cream in temperatures that were in the mid 30’s!! Just not heard of in England(well up North).

Around 8pm and after nine hours of soaking the sun up we were getting low on supplies and feeling pretty mashed. So to recharge our batteries we headed off to the Fawcett Inn, which is a short five minute walk away. Yes, the pub is actually called ‘The Fawcett Inn’. It’s a great pub in a mad way, never come across anything quite like it. Its full of people you read about in travel books or a tale from a friend who went to Thailand for a year. You know the stories that start off, “I went into a bar one night, and there was an old man with dreadlocks, sitting cuddling a pint, called himself Teardrop and looked like the psychadelic 60’s are still cursing through his veins.” Then there’s the other side, hippies, reclaim the streets, new age hippies, anarchists, nihlists, greenpeace, a place where all the ‘alternative’ people meet. It’s class, it’s like something you see on films, a little oasis of a bar where the music is cool (at times), the people are mad (but friendly) and the place has just got an atmosphere that makes you smile.

Anyway, Colin and Abby went to dance to some god awful hard house techno rave shitty music in the back and Lahnee and I stopped where we were and had a drink. After a short while it was time to leave, and off went to the Co-op to get a few more cans and some munchies, then back to ours.

From here it all goes a bit mad, three of us (me, Lahnee and Colin) spent the night in the garden. From about 10pm to 8am the next day, it was great, just sitting around talking about crap and listening to music :)

Sunday was spent catching up on the sleep and just lazing around in the sun, I’ve done nothing this weekend but catch the sun, and listen to music but I loved it! Had excellent company and a good weekend.

This is very funny, and I think must be a parody.

Ive posted this on Thistle Forums.

Itd be good if you could have one directory which can contain jpegs (or whatever i guess) and would then list them by date and with the filename as the blog title.

You could then easily upload jpegs, ot maybe even some email script to update the blog.

I may well have ago at this at the weekend, but with my minimal php skills I dont know if ill manage it. I will probably have to use some php in the info.cat file, like I did with the icons etc directories.

garden
Sorry the pics a bit shite, but I got involved and forget the time so it was a bit dark when I took the pic. Ive gone all out and trashed the garden, removed loads of thorn/rose bushes from the end. Christ knows why people get rose bushes, theyre a real nightmare. I think ill do some more at the weekend, then its the grass to deal with.

Ive done some more to my garden

Now, it IS showing the proper graphite buttons, i rebooted and OSX had gone back to the traffic lights for some reason, so I change back to graphite an Quarks got graphite too now. Very bizzare.

I installed the QuarkXpress 6 upgrade on my dual 1.2ghz at work yesterday, and after some initial usual Quark stupidity, whereby each upgrade serial number/humungous validiation key has to go with a specific Quark 5 serial (we have 9 upgrades) of which theres No mention of this with the paper work or even any reference to the previous serials, I had to phone Quark and a very helpful lady went through all 9 serials, me giving her the new ones and her giving me the previous serial number for that copy of Quark 6. One upgrade copy was also a retailers copy (even though I ordered direct from Quark) so they have to send me a validation key.

Quark still seems to insist on using its nonstandard UI systems under the hood, an example of this is that my flavour of OSX is the graphite one (where the three buttons are graphite as opposed to the traffic light colours) this should apply system wide, as its a standard OSX UI, but Quark 6 is still the traffic light colours.

Quark 6 also seems quite sluggish at times, but atleast theyve released the XT that allows you to double click on a pic to edit the original again.

Ive not used it in depth, but so far im fairly happy with it, all be that its basically carbon Quark 5 and in no way worth the ammount Quark charge for an upgrade, 50 would be a reasonable price.

Someone actually turned up to deliver a Warp Generator. lol. He saw a few suspicious people on mobiles, but I think they were bloggers too.

Someones after a time machine.
