Pompey

Im not a football fan, but its a shame Pompeys last match (they lost 1-2 home against Blackburn) wasnt as good as their previous matches (IE they lost). I really should post about things I dont know much about when ive been drinking.

Couldnt resist

I just couldnt resist yet another (or YA as we used to say) test.

The Pilot Show

On a lighter and more appropriatly post pub note, The Pilot Show by Channel 4 (I cant belive I just typed for instead of 4) is fucking excellent, it features the same actor as the comedy character actor from My New Best Friend, another Channel 4 beaut. I dont know his name, and cannot find it from a quick glance on either of the 2 sites, but he is great and fsck knows where the hell CHannel 4 found him. Well done Channel 4, but I dont know if hell be able to do anything else of any other kind after these. Although Chris Morris seems to manage to still fool gulible celebs even though hes beeen doing his stuff for years.

Blast fills the screen.

Fade to black.

LOL, cheers Salam I love that, made me crease up as I read it (page 16, that book I kept going on about)

Salam Pax - The Baghdad Blog update

There is actually a site for the book that I discovered when I glanced at Salams site after posting my previous post

Salam Pax: the Baghdad Blog - so far.

Ive have so far managed to get to page 29 of Salam Paxs book The Baghad Blog, this is November 2, 2003 and the books starts on 7 September 2002. The book is 203 pages long and ends on 28 June 2003 so I guess most of the book is during the bombing.

Its a really interesting book and as I mentioned in the books section is basically his website in print. Hes been called the Anne Frank of blogging/Iraq by a few people and im not too sure yet of how he would feel about this so err there, Sorry im writing this after a visit to the pub so my train of thought wanders and my typing becomes irratic. I also find my self deleting errors I think ive made but havent, or typing 8 letters and discovering an error I have to delete and re-type.

Maybe not a good state of mind to try to post similary to Salam, IE longer more interesting posts. I really like his style of writing and I guess a career (took 5 goes at typing that, thank the great Steve [Jobs of course] above for spelling ctrl click thing in Safari) in jouralism is his. He seems to have quite afew friends in The Guardian.

Ahh, I just remembered what I wanted to say earlier about the book. I have to assume hes being paid for the book as Ian Katz, Guardian Features Editor has written an intro. Salam has also written a fortnightly article for The Guardian (maybe its Just *Guardian* now since thats Ian Katz's [what a time to worry about whether its correct or not to use an apostrope the] title in the book).

So far ive learnt that Salam (keep trying to write Salman for some reason) Pax isnt an regular Joe in Bagdad and that regular Joes would probablybeat the shit out of us infidels thats from page 27, 29 October 2002.

Also, most people thought he was Raed, when the blog title was dearraed. Raed was a friend in Isreal that he used the blog to communicate with. I dont know if Raed is his real name - but it doesnt matter anyway. I do know that Salams name is Salam but his last name isnt Pax, apparently is some clever Arabic/Latin language thing.

If you read this Salam, please dont be offended and and I hope if you choose to you get a good journlism job from this, or maybe youll just use VIZ all day (A piece of architects software that he expressed a certain kind of affection early on in the blog).

Was that my longest post ever? BTW, this post was brought to you whist I was watching Scream on the TV (OK, but 2 and 3 were blurgh) and the number 4 (just random).

T610 image test 2

I actually viewed my website via my T610 as well as posting this post via my T610. By this I mean connecting to the net by it. It seems pretty fast here in the UK, about 6Kb per sec download, no idea upload but the first test image here was pretty quick.

T610 image test 1

Im testing by connecting via my T610 and posting this.

G4/G5 speed test

Not entirely scientific comparison, but times to open Classic, this is from the opening Classic dialog appearing to it dissapearing for our new 1.6ghz G5 with 1gig RAM and dual 1.2ghz G4 with 2gig RAM.
G4 - 38 seconds
G5 - 23 seconds

Heres my we little PowerBook - very sad and not to scale mock up
