A smattering of new paint over here at 'the fool' as Ive just decided to start calling my humble dwellings on the World Wide Whatsit.
Nothing major, still uses the idea (which has grown on me somewhat) of making the latest post the most wham bam in your face, and the previous posts a little subtler with sort of mid-importance stuff sliced in between and hopefully irrelevant frippery banished to the back pages. Ive move asides up next to the recent post and flickr back where asides was - seems to make more sense as its now actually _aside_. Ive tightened up the design a bit, namely with slightly smaller type (Ouch, some of you may not like but it *was huge*).
So its gone from basically green/red to blue/red - not a colour combination Id have normally chosen, but, i confess it was a bit of a random choice, but still it just grew on me as I applied it over the site. Looking again now, it is maybe a bit girly but Ill stick with it for a bit and see.
No doubt Ive missed some bits of css as my file is in quite a state but as ever Ill fix that as and when I see it or its pointed out to me.
I still need to choose a banner pic Im happier with, but this will do for the _noooo_.
For old times sake, this is what the site _was_:
Looking schmiko mate. Although the search box looks a little 'big' in a windows or linux environment - we don't get those swish apple modal dialog dropdowns for search boxes, you know ;)
Nice colour scheme - purple rocks imho. :)
[...] hed - seems I’ve timed my ‘autumn spruce up’ with matthew’s recent painting expedition. That is one of the more odd blogisims I feel - it seems everyone tends t [...]
Looking so nice!
Man, you're doing such a good job on this site.
keep it up!
Yeah, looking very nice...
Makes me want to tweak with my Mallow setup now...
Very nice! One thing though, it seems as if the "Name" input field in the comment form is styled differently compared to the others... I thought you might want to fix that. :) Great job!
Cheers,
Yeah, I lifted the form from elsewhere and now Im not sure what Im doing. it doesnt bother me too much so I may or may not fix it.
Allow me - I mentioned it once before and the fix was incorporated into mallow. Might job the 'ol brain cells. :)
Ill have a look, cheers
Sweet! Much easier on the eyes Matt. Good work.
Very very nice!
You're using some colours that I personally find very difficult to work with, and it's working out great. That's well done.
I just knew I wanted a desaturated blue colour and this'll do. it does however look *much* better on my PowerBook screen than it does on my CRT screen at work.
Well, on my screen it reads more like a purple'ish hue, which looks great with the header and link colors.
I just find purple colors very very difficult to work with. They don't dodge well and in general it's as though the whole scale just seems more limited than say deep browns. When it does work (like this), I'm always impressed.
Yeah, theres a slight hue of the purple persuasion in there. I say blue as its primarily blue, but slides somewhat into the purple area whilst still remaining blue - imo.
It was difficult to get a mouseover colour for the links in the darker panels, im still not happy with it. Overall Im happy though, sits nicely in Tiger.
Absolutely love the site layout, been a while since I have been here and absolutely love the way it is laid out. Half tempted to steal it LOL But that would be messed up :-P The design is very nice on the eyes as well.
Well just so long as you dont thieve it lock-stock, feel free to grab 'elements'.
oh, and cheers.
Heh, i'm really just jealous I didn't think of it first is all, I especially like the whole horizontal over vertical approach. Most sites have all the meta information and etc vertically in a sidebar, I think the way you did it works very very well. Props to you :-)
