Fun new products from Apple. Im hoping for new 6g video iPods, but who knows. I doubt itll be as special as iPods or Intel iBooks, maybe the rumoured iPod boom-box.

I see the Mac Mini has had a serious power-plant upgrade — cool.
yes the Mac Mini upgrades good, odd that it has a single core on the cheapest one. The Hifi looks pretty good, but too expensive for me. Just a shame theres no Intel iBooks or 6g iPods.. maybe theyre saving it Apples birthday.
Not really.. At the end of the day, all the G4 series (and G5, iirc) are a single core design, as are all Pentium 4’s, for example. The single Core’s fabrication is likely to be cheaper, hence a cost saving.
The single core chip will still have hyperthreading, which boosts performance — the Core Mono will still be a hell of a lot faster over the previous mini’s G4.
Apple has a number of models that it needs to phase out — to try and do them all at once with a brand new chip reference design that’s just barely out, with production only just starting to spool up is a bit of a tall ask, imho.
I guess that Apple has such a big history of announcing massive changes every single time Steve opens his mouth, folks are now expecting it, rather than being surprised by it.
I can see the cost savings in it being a single core, some people seem disappointed at its apparently crappy video chip and I can understand some annoyance at that as I think the MacMini should be a gamer friendly entry level Mac, yet they seem to be trying to have it striding entry level Mac and media centre capabilities without really doing either awfully well. Id like to see RGB/audio scart out with a simple cable and some sort of tuner to record TV shows (im not sure how that would work).
The boombox looks like it could sell well to me, I had a go on a Bose one at the London Mac Expo and that was a very nice sound, very bassy. The Apple boombox is similarly priced but with what I would guess is better sound and also the ability to run off batteries.
iPod cases, meh, but I can see some people buying them.
Looks like no new iPod for me for a month at least, damn thatll be hard but I really dont need to upgrade my 3g iPod yet, Id just like the video podcast capabilities and a new toy
I can see why some people are disappointed after the predictable hype whipped up by the various Apple and tech sites, not directly Apples fault as theres always hype around Apple announcements.
Im pleased people are disappointed, it shows we still expect alot from Apple and thats good, I couldnt see people being so disappointed from an MS keynote.
