I plan to update this page frequently

I mentioned I’d been work on Blanc, my site’s new design now for about a month so I thought it was time to keep a page with it’s current status. Im still planning on giving away my current site’s WordPress theme styles when Blanc is done. AND another little surprise is planned but not entirely confirmed yet, I’ll see how I go.

I’m quite excited about this design but I want to make it right. I have also gone down some certain design routes with it then had an idea for an alternative way of doing it and so to some degree scrapped the last design. Most of the last month or so has also been purely on the home page, trying different layouts and colours, making sure I still liked it the next morning, pressing the delete key alot, not and seeking ideas. There was no use of Photoshop (CS3 beta o_O) for layouts - just an idea in my head and diving into CSSEdit 2 for CSS, TextWrangler for code and Cyberduck for ftp. Only in the last 1-2 weeks have I endeavoured to tackle any more pages and the majority of those 1-2 weeks was the single post page. The Stickies widget in Dashboard has been a useful place to save little to-dos so I remember my ideas.

The Blanc logo above will reveal more of itself as I complete the design more (in theory).

Generally - I haven’t yet decided if I want to trim the categories to ‘posts’ and ‘asides’ yet . Whilst I am tempted, the gargantuan task scares me (Please tell me if you know how. I’ve looked everywhere and tried every plugin I could find and I cant see a simple way of removing all categories from a post which doesn’t contain asides, moving them to another category and then removing all other categories from those which contain asaides. How did Michael do this?). Navigation isn’t tied down yet. Colour scheme and general layout are set now. I should archive a screen grab of the previous layout whilst I remember.

Home - Very nearly tied down, bar final tweaks.

Single post page - Complete (again, fingers crossed) this one has been changing a lot recently too. There’s a few ideas for comments I want to do and I’m struggling to work out how.

Archive pages - Should be done.

Lifestream page - Pretty much complete.

About page - Nearly there.

CSS - a complete mess, I plan to tidy it up a little.

Hopefully this new design will be a nice surprise as it’s quite different from my previous few layouts.

24-2-07 - Lifestream is all but done. About page is nearly done. Next page is the Archives page.

25-2-07 - Archives page looking better, Live Archives need styling.

4-3-07 - Minor CSS and html fixes.

7-3-07 - Tag archive page, a few other minor amends. Now I need to comb through the code.

10-3-07 - I’ve been doing some final code tidying up (alt tags, title tags, etc) and experimenting with various ideas I’ve had. Hopefully this can be put to bed and made live within the next week or so..

17-3-07 - Tidying code. Blanc has been a marathon.
