Sorry for any inconvenience.

Just a quick note to say my new WordPress 1.3 theme is available. More information on the mallow site, or an image for no good reason.

*EDIT:* Update 10-12-4.

Ive started having ago at this today by altering my style to make it as easy to use (as I can anyway) as Kubrick. Seems to be going OK so far but Im concentrating on getting everything working and Ill play the the colours later. Also, because of my minimal CSS etc skills, Im sure some bit could be done better and Ive found a few issues with this site through having to check the code more carefully. The different php file ‘modules’ work slightly differently to the Kubrick for 1.3; for instance, whilst some divs open in one file and close in another on Kubrick, mine are all self contained. This makes it a bit easier to edit but also less flexible, its also down to the way my mind works (or doesnt) - as I cannot keep track of all the different divs in different files in my head. I wont put up any pics as Im still playing with it and its basically _this_ but paired down to minimal images and a different colour.
I still have the stripes along the back, at the top but Ive done them as a gif in the body css tag but I wonder if that can be done as pure css?
Oh yeah, and another thing .. the shadow either side of the middle bit ( ;-) ) is a png so that the stripes show through. Now, as IE (_spit_) doesnt show pngs properly should I do it some other way (ie drop the shadow)?

*Edit:* _Note_, the screen grab on this post is from _this_ theme, *not* the one im making (working name *Mallow* - but itll probably stay). Visually its similar, but just alot less fussy and with just the one image file (If i remember correctly … err, make that 3).

Hmm, I wonder? It might be a crazy idea but Im considering turning my current Marshmallow theme into a WP 1.3 theme in a similar way to Michael’s Kubrick, of course Michaels is currently for WP 1.2, you need Ryans for 1.3. After seeing all the extra problems Its caused him im not sure though, especially as its not something I really considered doing before. Just dont expect the same response times and knowledge from me if you have any hypothetical problems with this hypothetical theme. I may well just try it as my own project anyway but I think Ill be altering the colours and stuff a tad - and of course with full Kubrick credits as thats essentially my code template.
On a similar note, Fernando has a fewrather nicethemes forpeople to use in WP 1.2, its just a shame they arent for 1.3 really or Id have more styles to play with (I just noticed that with a few tweaks they do work under 1.3 as themes :-D ).
Ive also just discovered a theme switcher for WP 1.3 from Ryan so Ill be using that to switch between themes when testing, assuming Ill be trying this theme malarky. Im already trying it just for the hell of it (on my PowerBooks local site, not *this one*.

*Edit:* It occurs to me that I cannot decide whether its best to start with Kubrick and turn that into ‘Marshmallow’ or take ‘Marshmallow’ and _Kubrickise™_ it into a usable, user friendly theme. Pride makes we want to choose the later but practicalities make me think the former is the best way.
Kubrick has been well bug tested by now whereas my site is just _me_ and im not too bothered if something broke for a while. Kubrick also has lots of neat touches that Id like to have in a theme but which this site doesnt have, like the way itll tell you what area of the archive youre in for instance, which people should really expect as its been done, My site has a few odd tweaks to it which may be difficult to find and remove with out good testing (me ;-) ), although some of those tweaks may be lost if it try to convert Kubrick, and some of those maybe good tweaks. I like the idea of altering mine though as itll be a good way to look through the WP1.3 theme code, dissecting between my site and Kubrick. I also dont yet know the Kubrick CSS (mine holds many redundant settings) well enough yet to know what Ill be altering most of the time, also being lazy Ill probably leave some stuff if its easier.
Well, Ive still not made up my mind, both ways hold attractions and peril, however Ill no doubt have a quick stab at altering my site to make a style and see how that goes and how complicated it may get.

Welcome to my new site design (well, tweak really) - Marshmallow. Its called marshmallow for no good reason, although I think the current header has a slight mallowey feel to it.

I wont go into a whole thing about it, suffice to say my main reason for changing the look is I get bored easily, combined with wanting to get it from 1.3rc .. something or another, to a more stable version and in that thought a redesign and making it in a 1.3 template style was a good way to go.

I shall be tweaking it more im sure but it was ready enough that it was worth activating it now.

Marshmallow is based on Ryans 1.3 version of Michael’s Kubrick theme for Wordpress. I chose this route basically to make the move easier as it meant there was a structure already in place. However, most of the code is still mine or from WordPress with a bit of Kubrick thrown in where I like it.

Hopefully everything works - but you never know.

Addendum: Just a little note, I forgot to mention that in the comments mine are highlighted with a reddish tone and notable authors (basically regulars or people I know) are highlighted with a slightly paler reddish tone.
