A Critical Moment for Western Civilization
Taking nothing away from the hideous attacks of 9/11, the London bombings may even be more consequential for life in Western Civilization.
September 11, while horrific almost seemed too orchestrated, contrived and complicated to think that such an event could be perpetrated with enough regularity or timing to disrupt our way of life.
However, the use of a bomb, powerful enough to dismember bodies and blow roofs off of buses, yet simple enough to construct with Internet instructions and convenient enough to deliver through a personal handbag sends each of us a very personal message. These attacks prime basic emotions that we shared with our ancestors - the fear that at any time or place we can be annihilated by forces beyond our control and reason.
Adding to this primitive response is the recognition that our societies have spent over a trillion dollars putting in security measures and launching two wars against the enemy, all to no avail. If such a massive mobilization of resources of the most advanced people in our planet's history are so vulnerable, what should we think?
The immediate aftermath of this moment in Western Civilization may be one that significantly impacts how our shared future unfolds.
I just wanted to pass along the sympathies of all "The Spiderbox" authors and friends here in the States. I hope all of you and your families are safe and that your lives are not totally darkened by the cowardness and ignorance that is terrorism.
As little and cliche' as it sounds, if there is anything we can do over here to help, let us know.

I've been in prayer about them as as well and keeping them on my mind. The US experienced something of the similar nature almost 4 years ago.
In the recent news I have also read that it might be some native Britons there that did it, very interested news coming up.
There is a new, if you haven't heard about it already, for the terroism. http://www.werenotafriad.com -- over 11 million hits in a few days..
Ok, cheers I think.
In the spirit of equality and whatnot, I _should_ point out that this is *IN NO WAY* a christian website. So please, no prayers in the vicinity.
