Habari theme : hMallow 2

Habari theme : hMallow 2

A while ago I started converting my Wordpress Mallow 2 theme the update of my original Mallow theme to Habari but didn't really publicise it. Well, I think it's as ready for release as it will be in the short term you can view hMallow 2 here or go get it here.

I also have some plugins for Habari - the now unnecessary DiggBarKiller and hAdminStrip which is also available for Wordpress.

WP-Adminstrip now on Wordpress Plugins

I have finally made the venerable old WordPress Adminstrip, which Brendan had converted to a plugin, available on Wordpress Extend Plugins. This will mean that any updates will get caught by the clever plugin updating system built into Wordpress and that you'll be able to search for it.

This is of course the original version of the Habari version - hadminstrip.

You can see a screen grab here.

What you can deduce from this is that I finally kind of understand SVN and might have to buy Versions to continue. Why oh why are SVN apps so damn complex to use with shocking UIs?. I'd really like to see it work like DropBox, or maybe DropBox could even integrate SVN .. now theres an idea.

WordPress 2.5 upgrades are still annoying

WordPress 2.5.1 is out.

Version 2.5.1 of WordPress is now available. It includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and one very important security fix. We recommend everyone update immediately, particularly if your blog has open registration. The vulnerability is not public but it will be shortly.

...and it's still just as much of a pig as it ever was to upgrade yet we still get the upgrade now alerts and security hassles. The only 2 plugins I can find to hand, the creatively named "Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin" and "Instant Upgrade plugin for WordPress": The first refuses to reactivate my plugins meaning I have to print-to-preview the plugins screen then go through reactivating them (please let me just disable the pointless plugin deactivation); and the second refuses to recognise my ftp set as being valid but is at best vague about what might be wrong (although the other plugin seemed happy).

So why the fuck isn't there a built in WP upgrade system? The plugin upgrader is getting there (why it goes to a new window and doesn't use AJAXy goodness I dont understand) so bits are in place there somewhere.

Note WP-Adminstrip's natty new OS Xish semi-transparent black background.

Still working on it, and I'd ideally like some sort of pop up semi-transparent div for quick posting from the adminstrip similarly to the excellent Tumblr posting system, also quick editing of comments etc all from the adminstrip.
