Wordpress 2.0.1 has been released. This closes 114 bugs and you can now specify an upload directory, and whether to use date-based storage or not, plus a few other things. The upgrade seems to have gone well so far, but what I would like to see is a one-click upgrade button within the admin panel. I dont know how realistic this is to do with a web app such as Wordpress, but with Wordpress's maturity and the user base it seems to be aimed at (Id wager beginners through l33t) it should really be there if possible, as the current overwriting of disparate files and folders is quite scary.
Never content with my sites layout for more than a few weeks at the most, heres a very rough layout basically created by splicing up a screen grab in photoshop.

OK, maybe Ive done some sort of odd thing to my Wordpress 2 install (though Im pretty sure I havent) but should I get an email for every comment, whether it be in moderation or not? If its not standard WP practice it should be. I would like an email for every comment telling me what its current status is, and in addition an option in each email to put it into moderation, delete and approve. If I put it into moderation I should be able to choose some key words to add to my spam list (similar to the old spamwords plugin). Similarly, if Im approving it then surely I should be told why its in moderation and also give me some way to avoid similar comments going in there again. Is this not just common sense? I just dont feel some aspects of WP have evolved sufficiently with WP2.
I have a growing realisation I really dont like how Wordpress 2 handles images.
Have a look at my Gravwall by Thought Mechanics.
Ive now swapped over to WP2, I was going to wait for the final WP2 to be released, but sod it Ill take my chances.
Ive got a sandbox of sorts up, with the current WordPress 2 build on it. Just so I can see what does and doesnt work. Currently I dont have any plugins installed and ive not fixed anything so it doesnt work all to well. Im in the process of installing various plugins. Should all be up and running now, Im very tempted to just swap over to this new version.
New plugin shows your comments relative to any new comments on that post. To see it in action on my site, have a look under "Recent Comments" on the home page.
Im attempting AJAX comments, pretty much as described here. Its not 100% perfect by any means yet, many bugs so I may end up reverting back to non-AJAX if I cant work out the bugs. The first comment doesnt show up until you refresh the page.
Err, this post i looking pretty fucked up for some reason.
