How to Get an RSS Feed for your XBOX 360 Gamertag

Because Duncan was awesome enough to provide a REST API for the Xbox 360, I was able to create some pipes for converting that information to an RSS feed. You can use it with lifestreaming apps like Friend Feed until they get access to the developer program and are able to officially support the Xbox 360. #

Yahoo pipes FTW! My Xbox Live status is also now on my lifestream page and I have updated my Full Fat Feed and Semi-Skimmed Feed in accordance which both reside on Yahoo Pipes.

Xbox Live shonky - shocker

...Xbox Live General Manager Marc Whitten states in a letter to customers that, as recompense for nearly two weeks of outages, the group is offering up a full, free Xbox Live Arcade title free of charge. #

As someone finding finding games in Call of Duty 4 a real headache I can certainly attest to the ropeyness of XBL at the moment. I'm not sure I really want a free game as compensation though. Just get it working MS.

Halo 3

Halo 3 - somefoolis

I've not had much of a chance to play Halo the last couple of days due in part to Open Mic Night but I shall today. You can see my Halo stats here.

I started Halo on Heroic (I think it was Heroic, not the most difficult setting anyway) and unaware that my 360 wasn't online I launched myself into the single player mode. About 30 minutes in I noticed the 360 was offline and connected the ethernet cable to take it online. The 360 dutifully told me it needed to update and I let it. It did warn me that it might need to reboot but I let it go anyway, assuming it had saved my process. How wrong was I? Nope, it hadn't saved and I had to redo the previous half hour. Not a major problem, but annoying nonetheless.

Aside from that little outing and a couple of games online I took it over to a friends and we LANd their Elite and my Premium together with each of our copies of Halo 3 for a 2 TV, 4 player split screen set of deathmatches - FUN!

Tag my Xbox friends

I'd really like the ability to tag or in someway group my xBox 360 friends so I can see who I know from OAPs, FRAGs, PGR3 and Gears at a glance.

Thoughts on the Xbox 360

I've had my new Xbox 360 for a whole weekend so it's clearly time to reflect on the experience thus far. I'm sure I'm bringing nothing new to the 360 table as it's been out for years but this is my first serious experience with it.

Decisions, decisions, decisions

With it being my birthday next week I'm torn between throwing money away on an Xbox 360, a second hand Xbox or Vice City Stories for my PSP. This is fairly significant in itself because I did promise myself that I'd never buy an Xbox or Xbox 360 - so deep does The Cult of the Macintosh run through my veins.

So why am I suddenly tempted? Well its mainly due to the coverage I've been reading and hearing about the PS3. I'm sure the PS3 will be great in 2 years time, pumping out fantastic games, hopefully some sort of rumble re-introduced (even if it takes 3rd parties to make the controllers) and no doubt at a reasonable price. I don't see the PS3 being viable in the short term though (and certainly not within my budget).

The Xbox 360 looks pretty interesting and I really want to play Gears of War. That's really want to play it. The Xbox 360 is a stretch for my budget though and I hear of price drops some time after Christmas.

The Xbox, well, its pretty cheap at the moment, £70 for a new one from Game. Asides from my irrational reasons for not wanting to buy an MS product - I don't really want to have to buy a new wheel for it. I have a USB PS2 Logitech force-feedback which may or may not work with the Xbox with an adaptor - anyone? Id have to play TOCA3 online with the Xbox as I don't really like the homegrown Xbox driving games (Forza etc).

As for Vice City Stories - Liberty City Stories on the PSP was great and I suspect this will be even better but given the choice between £35 for VCS or £70 and then some for the Xbox I'm really undecided.

Normally I'm sure exactly what I want to buy and just go for it, but I'm genuinely in a quandry with this one.
